Medical Marijuana and Cancer

Medical Marijuana and Cancer

Marijuana are dried buds and leaves taken from various Cannabis sativa plants. These plants commonly grow wild in tropical and warm climates around the world. Today, marijuana comes in many names such as pot, cannabis, grass, hemp, weed, ganja, marihuana, hash, and many other names.

After a great deal of research and studies the US Drug Enforcement Administration considered marijuana as a Schedule I controlled substance. Meaning it cannot be legally possessed, prescribed, or sold. Moreover, crude marijuana such as hemp oil or marijuana oil is not approved by the FDA for medical use.

However, there are some states that allow legal usage of marijuana to help treat medical conditions. Enabling cancer patients to help ease the symptoms of cancer and its treatment.

How Can Marijuana Help Ease Cancer?

  • Some small studies showcased that smoking marijuana was helpful in easing vomiting and nausea caused by chemotherapy.

  • A few studies showcased that inhaling marijuana helps treat neuropathic pain, commonly caused by damaged nerves.

  • Smoking marijuana has helped improve the intake of food in HIV - cancer patients.

  • No studies back the claim of hemp oil or marijuana oil in easing cancer patients.

  • Cancer patients that take on smoking marijuana during the treatment require less pain easing medications.

  • Recent studies suggest that THC and CBD can help slow the growth and in some cases kill various cancerous cells. The study was a success and is gaining popularity around the world.

  • Studies showed that the use of cannabinoids might be safe when treating cancer. However, it cannot help you cure cancer.

While there have been many positive studies, there are some negative impacts of using marijuana as well. Keeping in mind that every individual has a unique cancer pattern, and does not take well to the treatment. While the treatment works like wonders on some, it might not have the same impact on others.

Keep in mind that any alternative treatment should be run past your doctor, and learn more about local laws before sourcing cannabis.
